AP CLASS

We are thrilled to announce that Wichita Collegiate has once again been named to the Advanced Placement School Honor Roll! The Advanced Placement School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP program is delivering results and broadening participation for students, and we are excited to have once again received their highest honor, the Platinum Award.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) enables students to pursue college-level studies, with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, while still in high school. Through the 19 AP courses offered at Wichita Collegiate, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue–skills that ultimately help to prepare students for college and beyond.

The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Based on the AP class history for the members of the Class of 2025, the Upper School has again been recognized by the College Board with their highest honor, Platinum Status, on their annual Honor Roll.  The College Board evaluates schools on three criteria:

  • college culture (the percentage of students who take at least one AP class in high school)

  • college credit (the percentage of students who score 3+ on an AP exam during high school, potentially making them eligible for college credit)

  • college optimization (the percentage of students who took five or more AP exams during high school, with at least one exam taken in freshman or sophomore year).

In their evaluation of Wichita Collegiate, it was made clear that not only had we met the benchmarks for the highest platinum honor, we also far exceeded them.

  • In 2025, the Upper School scored 25% above the Platinum benchmark for College Culture.

  • In 2025, the Upper School scored 72% above the Platinum benchmark for College Credit.

  • In 2025, the Upper School scored 20% above the Platinum benchmark for College Optimization.

The AP program’s Platinum Award is a direct reflection of the hard work of our administrators and faculty, who provide a wide variety of high-level courses, and, of course, our students, who choose to challenge themselves by taking them. We are proud to offer such a rigorous educational program and even more proud to see our students rise to meet the highest expectations.
