Teacher and student working on Anatomage table

Wichita Collegiate is excited to announce the donation of an impressive new learning tool for our students! Recently gifted to the school by a generous, anonymous donor, the Anatomage table is a seven-foot, 3D anatomy visualization, virtual dissection, and science table that takes tough science concepts and turns them into virtual experiments for an interactive, hands-on approach to learning. Often used in medical schools for its innovative approach to anatomy studies and dissections, Wichita Collegiate is the first school in the state to have a table programmed with both the anatomy and their new science software featuring interactive labs for biology, chemistry and physics.

Our science teachers first heard about the Anatomage table while attending a professional development conference. After seeing it in action, they knew it was something our students could greatly benefit from and decided to put it on their “wishlist.” Our generous donor saw the opportunities it could provide for our students and chose to make this investment in our students’ learning. .

Knowing that students of all ages could benefit from this table was one of the things that made it so appealing. Despite only having it on campus a short while, we are already getting a taste of how regularly it will get used by our Spartans. Upper School Biology teacher Mrs. Gerstner said, “In just a few short months, the impact of our Anatomage Table has far exceeded my expectations. I've been able to witness the genuine excitement on the faces of both fourth graders and middle schoolers as they make connections between classroom lessons and the visual representations on the table.”

Already we have seen lower school students come over and bring their Spartan Medical School learning to life, our Biology and Chemistry students carry out labs on it, and our middle school Mini Med School class use it to review the body. Additionally, the donor opted to include a set of iPads that contain the Anatomage software,, allowing us to bring the program to our early childhood students to let them explore this wondrous technology.

“In my own classes, I've utilized the simulations with the Science table to show complex molecular processes, helping students to grasp detailed concepts with more clarity,” said Mrs. Gerstner. “By integrating these simulations into my lessons, students have not only comprehended material more easily but also retained information more effectively, helping them to recall information for their assessments. The positive influence of this remarkable gift in such a short time makes me excited about the possibilities it holds for future students.”

Our teachers are currently taking part in training sessions that will help them to use the table to its full extent not only in science classes but in other subjects as well. We are so grateful for this world-class learning tool and know our students will benefit greatly from the generosity of this donor!
