What's Happening at WCS

On January 18, over 1,200 top band and orchestra students (All-District Performers) from across the state met in Salina to audition for the Kansas Music Educators Association All-State Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra.  Through an intense audition process, SIX Wichita Collegiate students were recognized at the All-State Musician Level!

Congrats to the Debate Team for a job well done at the 1-3A State Tournament!  For the first time in WCS history, trophies were won from both the 4-speaker and 2-speaker divisions!

Numerous Scholastic Art Awards were given to WCS Middle and Upper School students in photography, drawing & illustration, digital art, printmaking, painting, mixed media, architecture & industrial design, and portfolio.

Congratulations to Ben Brake, Class of 2020, on receiving the Timothy P. O'Shaughnessy Foundation's Lifelong Learning Scholarship!

The Foundation and scholarship were created in memory of Timothy O’Shaughnessy, a Wichita native and member of the WCS Class of 2002, whose passion for life and learning took him to universities in China to become fluent in Mandarin, to remote South America to work at a start-up oil company, to master sailing, and even to become a pilot. Sadly, Timothy passed away in August of 2016.

WCS had a great showing at the Emporia State Math Day, with the algebra team taking first place and several other strong results!
