Meet our Counselors
ANNETTE SHAMAS, CO-DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF COLLEGE COUNSELING
Annette holds a BA from Oklahoma State University, UCLA Certification in College Counseling, Harvard Summer Institute College Admissions Counseling, and Naviance Summer Institute. She is a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors, the Great Plains Association of Admissions Counselors, and the Association of College Counselors of Independent Schools.
For the past six years, Annette has served as the Wichita Area College Fair Coordinator for the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling. Annette was recently elected to the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling Executive Board as the Chair of the Admission Practices Committee. As of September 2017, Annette was selected as a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling Admission Practices Committee.
Annette’s family moved several times including international postings in London and Perth, Australia before settling in Wichita in 2002. Counseling Collegiate students for the past 10 years, she find the trends ever-changing but her goal remains constant: understand the student’s aspirations, affirm the student’s strengths and find the best bridge to college for the student’s long-term success. Annette brings specific expertise in the arts, aiding students who will be completing audition or portfolio-based applications.

AMANDA BOOTH, CO-DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF COLLEGE COUNSELING
Amanda earned a degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she was also a member of the Women's Golf Team. Prior to joining WCS Amanda spent the last four years at Newman University in the admissions department, most recently as the Associate Director of Admissions, Marketing, and Events. Before Newman, Amanda spent eight years working at William Woods University, another excellent small private college located in Missouri. Amanda brings a strong understanding of the value of high-end service and the culture of private schools. She also has strong skills in college admissions, event planning, and educational programming.

SASHA KUCHINSKI, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF COLLEGE COUNSELING
Sasha earned a B.S. in journalism and a B.A. in political science from the University of Kansas. Before joining WCS, Sasha served as the Wichita-based admissions counselor for the University of Kansas in which she planned recruiting events and counseled students and families through their application process. Prior to her time with KU, Sasha worked in journalism and public relations and brings years of experience in communications, event planning, and reporting. Sasha continues to be a contributing writer for local and national publications and looks forward to using her background in writing to assist students in the college application process.
