In the spring of 2008, Wichita Collegiate will host the Arts Festival of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).
More than 3,000 students from more than 40 schools will gather on the WCS campus from April 10-12 to celebrate the arts in a variety of venues including dance, vocal music, instrumental music, 2D and 3D visual arts, improvisation, one-act plays, and much, much more.
The event began as a small music festival first held on the campus of Casady School in Oklahoma City in 1967, and quickly grew to encompass all arts disciplines. The festival has garnered a national reputation as an event that showcases excellence in the performing and visual arts in independent schools and the ISAS Fine Arts Festival is the largest gathering of ISAS students on an annual basis. Wichita Collegiate School hosted the ISAS Arts Festival in 1968, 1971, 1981, and in 1996. Other ISAS member schools that have hosted the Arts Festival in the past include Holland Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico; and a number of schools in Texas including Fort Worth Country Day School; St. Stephens’ School in Austin; St. Mark’s, Hockaday, and Greenhill in Dallas; and Kinkaid, Episcopal, and St. John’s in Houston.
The students, faculty and staff of Wichita Collegiate School look forward to welcoming participating ISAS schools to campus in April. The ISAS Arts Festival of 2008 promises to be a lively and entertaining event which will showcase the talents of some of the most creative and accomplished students in the country!
