WCS Logo
The logo is designed to communicate identity, tradition, and values. Rather than create a logo that is a snapshot of the moment we are in, the design is meant to strengthen an already established brand. This classic look is designed to be appropriate now and for many years to come.
The symbols used in the new logo design are taken from the original school seal. We believe using these symbols helps to retain historical integrity.
Symbols include:
Staff of knowledge
Lamp of learning
Sword of spirit: to divide truth from falsehood
Shield — A traditional symbol used by institutions of higher learning. A shield appeared on a WCS 1960s circa necktie. It is a fitting symbol to accompany the Spartan mascot.
Proba Te Dignum — Prove Yourself Worthy is the motto of WCS
1963 — The founding year for WCS helps communicate the school’s longevity, stability and sense of tradition.
W.C.S. — The common way in that Wichita Collegiate School is referred. The “C” is larger denoting that many simply say “Collegiate” when referring to the school.
Laurels — In ancient Greece, laurel wreaths were awarded to victors, both in athletic competitions and poetic meets. Historically and idiomatically, laurels refer to victory, achievement and excellence.
