Program Basics

  • Open to participants in the Duke TIP program
  • Current 5th, 6th, and 7th grader TIP students are invited to attend any or all of the four Academic Adventure Saturdays
  • Held on the beautiful campus of Wichita Collegiate School/Beren Middle School
  • Students enroll in one class per Saturday and explore material not included in normal school curricula
  • The $100 course fee includes materials, lunch, and academic activities (A $10 non-refundable application fee is required for each application submitted)

Expectations for Students at Duke TIP at WCS
The Duke Talent Identification Program sets high academic and social standards for all students at all Duke TIP sites. Students should be absolutely certain that they are willing to abide by Duke TIP standards of conduct and live up to all expectations before applying to the program.

  • Students are expected to take full advantage of intellectual and social learning experiences by applying themselves to the best of their abilities in their studies and by participating fully n social activities.
  • Students are expected to adhere to program policies and follow the direction of Duke TIP at WCS staff members.
  • Students are expected to be alert to the safety of themselves and others by following Duke TIP at WCS rules pertaining to boundary areas and conduct on and off campus.
  • Students are expected to demonstrate honesty, truthfulness, and fairness, and to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of other students, Duke TIP at WCS staff, and the property of our host institutions.
  • Students are expected to approach Duke TIP at WCS with a strong sense of personal responsibility for their conduct and for the consequences of their actions.
